My Motivation

A world where there is no sickness, hunger, or fear of persecution of any kind. This sounds like a place I could hang around. A world where the individual decides what is right for them. A world where being different and unique is a wonderful thing. All of these things are not crazy and unrealistic ideas. They can be our reality; we are here today, this moment… Now. Now is where we live. It is where we will stay. The most valuable asset we have is our TIME. We take advantage of this. We even disregard time in its true meaning so often when asked to do anything that is outside of our personal schedule, by responding, “I just don’t have the time.”. Time is only a measurement. It measures what you have learned, where you have been, all that you have seen, all that you have done, and for the remainder of the time we are given, it will measure everything you will do until your time is gone. Focusing on what is truly important, I would like you to think to yourself what it is that is important to you. What has the most meaning in your life? Things like Love, Compassion, Happiness and Health might come to mind. Can you remember how you felt the last time you did something that was completely selfless, or the last time you did something to help another individual without expecting anything in return? That was a good feeling, right? It is our natural instinct to help another individual when we are given the opportunity to do so. That is how mankind has survived long enough to see the amazing miracles and accomplishments up to this point. We are all from the same energy, the same life-force. Our experiences, knowledge, dreams, and what we hope for in our future are all meant to be shared with others. These are the things that drive people to invent, create, and defy the odds of how far we can go if we believe in what we are doing and know that it can happen. We get to decide if something gets put into action or remains only an idea. By taking action, even on the smallest scale, we are still making progress. Remember, “It is progress we seek, not perfection.”. This is a well-known phrase among the recovery community. We have the power to change the existence of the world. This perfectly constructed space that we share has given us all of the resources that we could possibly need to sustain a healthy life for everyone who lives today. We should be able to feed, shelter, and clothe everyone and cure all illness with everything we have been given freely and take for granted from our earth. Nothing in this idea is impossible. If each individual was aware of how much impact they alone could make in the world by doing the simplest of things, such as:

  • Donate ONE item of clothing that you no longer use
  • Donate ONE item of canned food each time you shop for your groceries
  • Volunteer ONE hour hour per week to help your community
  • Donate ONE penny per day to a charity
  • Express Gratitude for ONE thing that has helped you in your life, to no-one other than yourself as a reminder that you are not doing this alone and, that with the help of others, anything is possible.

I mention these things as “ONE” to show the simplicity of the truth. Now take the population of our country, all countries, the world… Now think of the significance that ONE has. That single act, that single item, or that single expression might be the ONE single thing that someONE needs to have another single moment here on earth to share with another. That is what motivates me.
